Clean a Clogged Shower Head
Weak or sputtering spray is almost always mineral buildup in the nozzles — common in hard-water areas. A 30-minute vinegar soak restores 90% of pressure with no parts.

Steps
-
1
No-removal method
Fill a sandwich bag with white vinegar, tie it around the shower head with a rubber band so the nozzles are submerged. Leave 30 minutes (or overnight for heavy buildup).
Tip: Vinegar can damage some finishes (brass, nickel) over long soaks — limit to 30 minutes on anything not chrome or stainless. -
2
Scrub and rinse
Remove the bag, scrub the nozzles with an old toothbrush to dislodge softened mineral deposits, run the shower hot for 30 seconds to flush.
-
3
If still weak — remove and soak
Wrap the connector nut in cloth, twist counterclockwise with a wrench. Drop the whole head in a vinegar bath for 1–2 hours, scrub, and reinstall with fresh plumber's tape on the threads.
